When looking through Bark for a gardener, I went with the most promising reviews. I chose Greener Gardens for this reason and agreed a price when he came to look at my garden. Michael said that he wanted to be paid upfront because he had had someone not pay him after he completed work. Normally, I would never pay anyone upfront but his reviews were great and I was desperate to have the garden nice and tidy for my son to sit in for his holidays as soon as possible - which he told me that he would do. This was not the case. After completing some mowing, cutting back some of the shrubs at the back of the garden and pulling a few weeds up from one of my flower beds, he said it was spitting rain so he was going to put the lawn mover away. He took the two black bin bags of rubbish too, got into his van and never came back. Twenty minutes later, I called him and messaged him and whilst he didn't pick up the phone, he messaged to state that there were 20 minutes left and he would come back for the 'follow up'. He still hasn't come back. How many times has he done this to be issued a final warning? I am angry with him, Bark who said that they have issued him with a final written warning and will closely monitor him, but most of all I feel angry with myself. I trusted this man and even gave him tea and told him to help himself to fruit. More fool me. Never again!

Avoid this service provider – avoid, avoid, avoid. Sadly I can’t give 0 stars. I requested a gardener in early July 2025 and Michael from Greener Gardens responded quickest, even offering to attend the same day. He insisted on full payment upfront, which I agreed to as he said the work would be completed immediately. Michael arrived with another person and carried out some of the agreed work – mowing the lawn, removing a small dead bush, and cutting back part of a hedge. However, the job was left incomplete. The weeds at the front of the property were untouched and the hedge was cut only along the side, with the top left completely overgrown. When I raised this with Michael, he agreed to return at the start of August to finish the job. I confirmed with him the day before – no reply. He then failed to show up, ignored all further messages, and when I called the same number we had been using, a woman answered claiming it wasn’t his number. (Very suspicious, considering it had been his number throughout our communication.) To date, Michael has not returned to finish the job and has not refunded me half the payment for the work left undone. This behaviour is both unprofessional and dishonest. I’ve never had an experience like this before, and I hope others don’t get caught out the same way. Do not waste your time or money on this service provider – completely unreliable and dishonest.
