Visit Sacramento, California

Description

I had the idea of living in California, and like most people, I only knew the famous cities — Los Angeles, San Francisco, and maybe I’d heard about Silicon Valley and Sacramento, the capital.

When I arrived and started living in San Francisco, I noticed there were so many cultures, which is really cool, but I was looking for something that felt more like the traditional American culture — a place where I could experience life as a Californian.

In LA or San Francisco, you find many Latino, Mexican, Japanese, or Chinese neighborhoods, each with its own language, culture, and food. It’s great when you’re a tourist, but California isn’t China, Japan, or Mexico — and I was hoping for something simpler, with just one main culture, where I could still meet people from different countries without being surrounded by huge ethnic neighborhoods.

That’s what I found in Sacramento — a nice, welcoming community that’s not too expensive, and the good thing is it’s only a couple of hours from San Francisco and about six hours from LA. The train is very nice, and in Midtown, everything is within walking distance.
