Driver Hire Southampton is recruiting for a reliable and hardworking Warehouse Operative / Driver to join an established and successful agricultural supplies business based in Stockbridge.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking for a long–term position with the potential to become permanent, with training and development opportunities available.

The Role

You will initially be responsible for picking and preparing customer orders, ensuring goods are accurately selected and ready for dispatch.

The position also includes customer deliveries when required, along with providing holiday cover for the company's drivers during quieter periods between January–March and October–December.

This is a varied, hands–on position that would suit someone who enjoys a combination of warehouse and driving duties and is keen to develop their skills within a successful business.

Key Responsibilities

Picking customer orders accurately and efficientlyPreparing orders for dispatchChecking stock and ensuring orders are correctMoving and organising stock within the warehouseLoading vehicles ready for deliveryCarrying out customer deliveries when requiredProviding holiday cover for drivers during quieter periodsCarrying out general warehouse dutiesKeeping the warehouse clean, tidy and organisedFollowing all health and safety proceduresWorking as part of a team to meet daily requirementsLearning and using the company's new warehouse computer system when introducedCompleting relevant computer and system input as requiredSupporting the wider warehouse operation when requiredA full UK driving licence is essential, as driving and delivery duties will form part of the role.

What We're Looking For

The successful candidate will ideally have:

Previous warehouse experience, although this is not essentialA reliable, hardworking and organised approachGood attention to detailA full UK driving licenceThe ability to work as part of a teamA willingness to learn and develop within the roleMust be aged 25 or over due to insurance requirementsCounterbalance, Reach Truck or Order Picker experience/licences would be advantageous but are not essentialTraining for the relevant forklift licences will be provided to the right candidate once permanent.
