Description

One of London's most vital transport operations are currently seeking an experienced Material Controller to join a fantastic Inventory Management team in London, supporting fleet operations across the network.

Role: Material Controller

Duration: 4-6 month contract

Pay: Up to £220 (Inside IR35 via Umbrella)

Location: Based across multiple London locations (Ealing / Upminster / Southwark)

Working Pattern: 50% onsite over 10 days In this role, you'll be a key member of the Materials Management team, ensuring all materials required for maintenance, projects and operational functions are delivered on time and within target inventory levels.

You will work closely with Commercial and Engineering teams to optimise performance, safety, and cost across the asset lifecycle, whilst supporting the development of materials management capability for both current and future operational needs.

Key Responsibilities:

Managing and controlling inventory to meet operational fleet requirements.

Running SAP R/3 MRP processes and maintaining accurate master data.

Undertaking stock control and expediting to ensure optimum holding levels.

Ensuring arrangements are in place to maximise stock availability for customer demand.

Developing effective expediting and de‑expediting processes to support stock optimisation.

Producing detailed reports for Engineering, Commercial and Operational stakeholders.

Delivering end‑to‑end materials management in collaboration with key internal stakeholders.

Ensuring compliance with Materials Management policies, processes and governance frameworks.

Using appropriate systems to support Materials and Plant Management, ensuring data and process efficiency.This is a specialist planning and control role, not a stores or repair-processing position. Expect a fast-paced environment, shifting priorities, a strong data focus, and regular engagement with engineering, maintenance and supply chain stakeholders.

Key Requirements:

Considerable experience within Materials Management and inventory control

Rail or transport industry experience

Experience running MRP/ERP systems

Strong SAP R/3 experience.

Hands‑on MRP planning control experience.

Advanced Excel skills: VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, data analysis. xjnqpsq
