Description

Teaching Assistant – 1:1 Support (SEMH) – Primary School – Scarborough

Full-time - Term time only - Long-term role starting ASAP

We are working with a well-run, inclusive and supportive primary school in Scarborough who are in need of a Teaching Assistant. The perfect person will be supporting a KS2 pupil on a 1:1 basis to help them with their needs, centred around an SEMH diagnosis. This a long-term opportunity for someone who can build trust, create a safe space, and help the pupil regulate and succeed throughout the school day, being their trusted person to help them manage with the routines of school life.

You don’t need to have all the answers—but if you’ve got resilience, patience, and the ability to stay calm under pressure, this could be a brilliant role for you.

* What’s involved:

Supporting one pupil in KS2 who needs consistent boundaries and a calm, positive adult presence

* Helping with emotional regulation, behaviour, and transitions throughout the day

* Working closely with teaching staff and the school’s SEND team to keep things consistent and supportive

* Celebrating small wins and helping the pupil engage positively in their learning

We’re looking for someone who:

Has experience working with children or young people with behavioural or emotional needs

Is patient, firm, and reliable

Can remain calm and consistent, even when things are tough

Is available full-time during term time

(Bonus!) Has Team Teach training or similar, pay will reflect this addition!

What you’ll get:

Long-term, steady work in a supportive school

Weekly pay, no umbrella company

Friendly support from a team who actually picks up the phone right the way to 6pm

A chance to make a real difference to one pupil’s day-to-day life

This role isn’t always easy—but it’s one where you’ll be genuinely valued, and your impact will be clear to see. If you’re ready to be that trusted adult for a child who needs consistency and care, we’d love to hear from you. You’ll be backed all the way, with real support, fair pay, and schools that appreciate what you bring to the classroom.

Apply now or get in touch with the team at Right Education.

Let’s find you the right school, the right role, and with the right support
