Pertemps are delighted to be working with our public sector client to recruit for a Production Operative on a temporary basis.

Role: Archive Assistant

Location: Edinburgh South-Gyle

Duration: Temporary ongoing

Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:30am – 17:00pm (36 hours per week)

Pay rate: £14.02

Start date: Immediately

Are you organised, hands-on, and ready to play a key role in a busy production environment? We’re looking for a proactive Production Operative to support the efficient delivery of print, mail, and document services for our internal and external customers, including schools, libraries and other departments.

About the Role

In this varied and practical role, you’ll help ensure production processes run smoothly, accurately and to deadline. You’ll operate a range of printing, scanning and publishing equipment, support stock management, deliver goods and assist with day-to-day operations that keep our services moving.

Key Responsibilities

You will:

Sort and frank mail, preparing it for delivery.

Operate and maintain printing, publishing and scanning machinery.

Scan and index documents using ICT and specialist workflow systems.

Ensure products meet customer expectations for accuracy and quality.

Use Microsoft applications and other systems daily for document and production management.

Indexing documentation and digitisation.

Manage and organise stock, ensuring safe storage (no stock stored on the floor).

Deliver goods to schools, libraries and other customers when required.

Complete paperwork for department vehicles, including driver and van check sheets.

Support Health and Safety practices across the team.

Handle books being delivered to council libraries.

What We Look For

We’re looking for someone who can:

Work independently and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.

Solve problems as they arise to maintain an efficient workflow.

Interpret work instructions accurately and uphold high quality standards.

Prioritise tasks and manage competing demands.

Demonstrate knowledge of production control or management.

Use their initiative and adapt to new demands.

Ideally be qualified to Standard Grade (or equivalent), or have significant relevant experience.
