Description
We are sadly selling our beloved camper as our age and health have made it hard for us to continue camping. We used the camper last weekend for our final time near Withernsea where we had torrential downpours and winds from Storm Florris without any issues (unlike our daughter’s awning that tore and a few flattened tents).
The Pennine Apollo 2002/3 model has a modern look featuring the moulded plastic front locker and trim its size making it a popular choice with first time users. Overall this is in very good condition for its year with expected usage evident, the camper is ready to go with only a couple of items to note for transparency (see below).
The Apollo is a four berth folding camper with basic kitchen facilities, including a cold water fed sink, 2 burner hob and grill, with loads of storage space, comfortable seating and two large beds. The overall setup time is between 10 and 15 minutes for the camper on its own. Or optionally to erect the awning it takes a further 20 – 30 minutes because of the extra pegging out required for the awning.
It can be used with the two beds permanently made up or with one permanent bed and one large settee. Retaining straps hold the bedding in place, so the beds can even be left made up whilst in transit/storage. There is also a small bench type seat opposite the main settee, which is used for dining (there is a table stored in the camper).
The camper includes a gas fuelled 2 burner hob and grill and a sink, with small drainer, with a cold water tap which is fed by a 12V electrical pump system. We are also including the waste water and fresh water containers. All curtains for the main camper and awning are also included.
It can be used on its own without the optional awning for a shorter break, whilst having the option of the awning for longer stays/larger parties (you can make this a six berth by purchasing an underbed tent). We have only used the awning once when family were on the same site and needed extra dining space.
There is no lighting in the camper but this is not a problem when using electric hook up and your own lights. There are two 240v electric sockets for use with your own fridge/microwave/TV etc. (note these items are not included). The camper has a leisure battery which is included and used for the 12V system.
This camper is easy to tow, easy to store and manoeuvre (will fit in standard garage). For many, it’s the ideal way to put a toe into the water and give it a go.
THINGS TO NOTE:
• We bought this camper in 2020 and have used every year since but in the first year we folded it down incorrectly which bent a couple of poles which have been re-welded and taped up (I’m not a professional) but it has not affected its use whatsoever (see photos).
• The external trailer green cover has a few worn points easily fixed with a puncture repair kit (this was on my to do list).
• The elastic rope on the green cover has deteriorated and I would recommend replacement in the future but is still useable (see photos).
• The wood shows marks which were there when we bought, they have never got any worse and do not affect the use of the camper (see photo).
Specifications
The full length, including draw bar is 340 cm, and when folded, the camper is 180 cm wide, and 120 cm high, yet it opens out into a very spacious 4 berth accommodation.
