Primary School Teaching Assistant (SEN/ALN Focus)

Location: Caerphilly

Salary: Starting from £88.92 per day

Contract: Full-time, Part-time, and Ad-hoc (Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm)

Overview

Vetro Education is seeking a compassionate and experienced Primary School Teaching Assistant to join a supportive primary school in Caerphilly. This role will involve working across the Foundation Phase and Key Stage 2, supporting learners with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Additional Learning Needs (ALN) on both a one-to-one basis and in small groups.

You will play a key role in promoting an inclusive learning environment and ensuring that all pupils have the support they need to thrive academically and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities

Provide tailored one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEN and ALN.

Work closely with class teachers to implement individual support strategies.

Assist in adapting classroom materials and activities to suit varying needs.

Support pupils with emotional, behavioural, and sensory challenges.

Help maintain an inclusive and nurturing learning environment.

Monitor and record student progress in collaboration with teaching staff.

Candidate Requirements

A minimum of 3 months' experience supporting children with SEN/ALN in a school or similar setting.

Strong understanding of SEN/ALN including autism, ADHD, dyslexia, sensory processing, and behavioural needs.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

A patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach to classroom support.

Ability to implement learning plans and work collaboratively within a team.

Willingness to undertake relevant training and development.

Essential Compliance

Enhanced DBS certificate on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain).

EWC (Education Workforce Council) registration as a Learning Support Worker.

Eligibility to work in the UK.
