Position: Specialist Teaching and Learning Assistant

Location: Barnsley

Schedule: Monday – Friday, term time only

Contract: Temp to Perm Options Available

About the Role:

As a Specialist Teaching and Learning Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities , helping them overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential. You will work closely with teachers, support staff, and external agencies to create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist in planning and delivering engaging and differentiated lessons tailored to the needs of the students.Provide one–on–one and small group support to students, fostering a positive and encouraging atmosphere.Implement individualised educational healthcare plans (EHCPs) and support strategies.Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents.Promote positive behavior management techniques and support students in developing social skills.Collaborate with the school team to ensure a holistic approach to student wellbeing and academic progress.Requirements:

Previous experience working with children with SEN needs in a primary school setting.TA qualification or equivalent experience.Strong communication and interpersonal skills.Empathy, patience, and a genuine passion for supporting children's education and personal development.Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.Knowledge of relevant safeguarding and health & safety procedures.DBS on the update service or willing to get one.Why Join Academics Agency?
