Location: Lambeth
Contract Type: Contract / Full-Time, Term-time only (39 weeks)
Salary: £13.68-£16.11 per hour
Start Date: ASAP or Sept 2025
Do you have a passion for supporting children with a range of Learning Difficulties, including Autism, and Speech, Language & Communication needs?
Join a Supportive and Inclusive Special Educational Needs School in Lambeth!
An inspiring and inclusive special needs primary school in the London Borough of Lambeth is seeking a dedicated Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) to join their passionate team. The school supports children aged 2-11 with a range of complex needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), and Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD).
This SEN TA role is an excellent way to get your 'foot in the door', providing you with the opportunity to work closely and network with other teams of professionals including Therapists, Nursing Teams and Teachers. You will gain relevant experience and expand your knowledge in a challenging yet rewarding setting.
Career progression routes may include SEN Teacher, Speech and Language Therapist, Occupational Therapist and various Child Psychology and Educational Psychology routes.
A common risk factor for children and young people with SEN is marginalisation and disadvantage, trauma, dysfunctional family relationships, low educational attainment and stigmatisation. Subsequently they face many barriers in life and are more 'at risk' of negative outcomes. As a SEN TA, you will be instrumental in providing consistency, and equipping children and young people with tools to ensure they feel safe, secure, empowered, and believe that they can succeed in life.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is committed to supporting pupils with additional needs in a nurturing, engaging, and well-resourced learning environment.
Key responsibilities:
Provide 1:1 interventions and small group support for pupils with ASD, PMLD, and SLD
Assist class teachers with planning and delivering differentiated learning activities
Support pupils' physical, emotional, and personal care needs, including mobility and feeding where required
Foster a safe, inclusive, and positive environment that promotes engagement and independence
Collaborate and build effective working relationships with a range of professionals as part of a multidisciplinary team that includes teachers, therapists, and support staff We're looking for someone who:
Has experience working with children with ASD, PMLD, or SLD (desirable but not essential)
Demonstrates patience, empathy, and adaptability
Has strong communication and teamwork skills
Is enthusiastic about helping children overcome barriers to learning and development
Holds a relevant qualification (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3 or equivalent) - desirable, though training can be provided What's on offer:
This role can also be a valuable stepping stone for graduates considering a future in education, psychology, therapy, social work, or other related fields - offering hands-on experience in a supportive, real-world setting
A welcoming and supportive school community
Comprehensive training and continuous professional development
Access to specialist facilities and resources
A deeply rewarding role with the chance to make a real difference every day Apply now or contact Eleanor Chessun-Lawrence at Timeplan:
