SENDCO (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordinator)Salary: GBP37,076.40 FTE, Actual GBP33,532.75 (pro rata)Location: SurreyHours: 37 hours per week, 8:30am - 5pmEmployment Duration: Employed for 40 weeks per yearJob Type: Full-time, not suitable for home-workingJoin our team at Technical College, a leading further education institution in Surrey dedicated to supporting young people and adults in their educational and career paths. We are seeking a passionate and experienced SENDCO to oversee and manage the support provided to students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), ensuring they can access the curriculum and achieve their full potential.

Day-to-day of the role:Develop and implement the college's overall strategy and policies related to SEND, ensuring alignment with national and local policies.Conduct assessments to identify students with SEN through a structured four-part cycle, including observations and consultations with students, teachers, and parents/guardians.Create and manage individualised support plans, including EHCPs with social and academic targets, tailored to the specific needs of each student.Coordinate with a wide range of internal teams and external agencies, such as psychologists and speech therapists, to provide comprehensive support.Provide guidance, advice, and training to college staff on effective support strategies for students with SEN.Manage resources and the budget allocated for SEN provision, developing learning aids like sensory and visual resources to support students' development.Analyse data to identify trends and needs among students with SEND and develop appropriate interventions and strategies.Required Skills & Qualifications:Proven experience as a SENDCO or in a similar role within an educational setting.Strong understanding of the needs of students with special educational needs and disabilities.Ability to develop and implement effective strategies and policies.Excellent leadership skills, with experience in managing teams and coordinating with external agencies.Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders.Relevant qualifications in special education or a related field are highly desirable.Benefits:Competitive salary reflecting the importance of the role.Opportunity to work in a dynamic and supportive educational environment.Professional development opportunities to further enhance your skills.Being part of a significant educational initiative that impacts the lives of students with SEND.To apply for the SENDCO position, please submit your CV
