Academics Recruitment Agency is currently working with several secondary schools across Halifax and Huddersfield who are seeking Behaviour Support Assistants to work with Year 7 students with SEND needs as they settle into their new environment.

About the Role:

These are rewarding and varied roles that involve:

Supporting Year 7 SEND students with the transition into secondary school

Helping pupils manage routines, build confidence, and regulate emotions

Providing in-class and out-of-class support to encourage positive behaviour and engagement

Working closely with teaching staff and SENCOs to implement tailored support strategiesThe Ideal Candidate Will Have:

Experience supporting children or young people with SEND and/or SEMH needs

A calm, empathetic, and patient approach to behaviour management

Confidence in building rapport and offering consistent, positive reinforcement

A genuine interest in education and pupil well-beingThese roles would suit:

Experienced Behaviour Mentors or Teaching Assistants

Youth workers, sports coaches or those with a background in care or mental health support
