Description

SEND Teaching Assistant

Location – Stockport (Manchester) (SK8)

Pay – GBP500–GBP550 per week, depending on experience

Start Date – 01/09/2026

Contract Type – Long–Term, Temp to Perm

Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant/Support Worker who is confident working with SEN pupils? Prospero Teaching is working with a Special Needs School in Stockport who are in need of Teaching Assistants across the school. This school supports pupils between 4 – 19 years of age.

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will:

Support pupils on 1:1 and small group basis, helping them to engage in learning and regulate emotions

Need to be comfortable providing personal care to pupils

Assist in managing challenging behaviour and sometimes high–risk behaviours, using positive behaviour strategies

Build strong, professional relationships with pupils

Work closely with other staff members, SEN professionals and external agencies to support development

Requirements:

Experience working with children or young people

Experience working with SEN needs such as severe Autism, Complex Learning Needs and Sensory Impairments

Experienced providing personal care

A calm, patient, and resilient approach with the ability to remain composed in challenging situations.

Confidence in setting boundaries and following behaviour management plans consistently.

Flexibility, strong communication skills, and a commitment to safeguarding and student welfare.

Psychology, Speech and Language Graduates, Teaching Assistants, Care and Support Workers are ideal for this school

TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS ROLE THROUGH PROSPERO TEACHING, YOU MUST:

Hold Right to Work in the UK

Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application

Provide two professional child related references that cover the last two years
