Location: Retford

Full-Time | Term Time Only | Monday to Friday

£90 - £120 | Paid via PAYE

Are you confident managing behaviour and passionate about helping students re-engage with education?

TeacherActive is working closely with a supportive school in Arnold, Nottinghamshire, which caters to students with a range of behavioural, emotional, and social needs. The school is seeking a Teaching Assistant with strong behaviour management skills to support students who may present with challenging behaviours due to SEMH or SEND needs.

This is a rewarding opportunity to help learners develop confidence, emotional regulation, and focus, in a nurturing and structured school environment—with a clear pathway to a permanent role for the right person.

The Role:

Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with behavioural needs

De-escalate challenging situations and promote positive behaviour strategies

Support class teachers with behaviour management and engagement

Assist in creating a calm, consistent, and safe learning environment

Work in line with personalised support plans and EHCP targets

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

Experience working with young people who display challenging behaviour or SEMH needs

A calm, assertive, and consistent approach to managing behaviour

Excellent teamwork and communication skills

An understanding of safeguarding, behaviour support strategies, and positive reinforcement

(Desirable) Experience working in a PRU, SEN school, or alternative provision
