SEND Teaching Assistant - EYFS / KS1

Location: Lozells, Birmingham (B19)

Position Type: Full-Time | Term Time Only (Monday to Friday, 8:30AM - 3:30PM)

Start Date: September 2025

Pay Rate: Negotiable (Dependent on Experience)

Contract Type: Long-Term, with potential to become permanent

Prospero Teaching is working with a friendly and inclusive primary school in Lozells (B19) to recruit a SEND Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 and small group support in EYFS and KS1. This rewarding role is ideal for someone who can provide consistent academic and emotional support, helping children feel safe, engaged, and ready to learn.

About the Role:

· Provide tailored 1:1 and group support for pupils in EYFS and KS1 with SEND

· Build positive and supportive relationships that promote confidence and independence

· Support pupils learning, communication, and social development in line with their EHCPs

· Assist with phonics, early literacy, and numeracy development in a nurturing and structured way

· Work closely with class teachers, the SENCO, and external professionals to ensure consistent provision

The Ideal Candidate Will Be:

· Experienced in working with children with SEND (Autism, speech and language needs, SEMH, or developmental delay)

· Nurturing, patient, and empathetic, with a child-centred approach

· Confident in supporting learning across EYFS and KS1 curriculum areas

· Calm under pressure and adaptable to meet different childrens needs

· A strong communicator and team player, able to work effectively with staff and families

Essential Requirements:

· Level 2 Teaching Assistant or equivalent qualification

· Right to Work in the UK

· A valid Enhanced Child Barred List DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)

· Two recent, child-related professional references (covering the last two years)

· Knowledge of EYFS/KS1 curriculum and inclusive strategies for supporting SEND pupils
