Description

SEND Operations Assistant

Location: Colchester, Essex (hybrid working)

Contract: Temporary – 3 months initially, with the potential to extend

Start: ASAP

As a SEND Operations Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in making this happen. You’ll be the first point of contact for families, schools, and partner agencies—helping to triage enquiries, coordinate statutory processes, and ensure everything runs smoothly behind the scenes. From managing the Annual Review process to supporting Education Health Care (EHC) assessments, your work will directly support children and young people in achieving their potential.

What you’ll be doing

Coordinating key statutory SEND processes, including Annual Reviews and post-16 requests.

Acting as the first line of support for families, schools, and professionals—triaging enquiries and signposting where needed.

Providing essential administrative support to SEND Operations Coordinators, ensuring timelines and statutory requirements are met.

Maintaining accurate data and records that drive decision-making and improve services for children and young people.

Working closely with schools, settings, and health colleagues to ensure no child falls through the cracks.What you’ll bring

Educated to RQF Level 2 (or equivalent experience).

Strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice 2015.

Experience of working with or supporting children and young people with SEND.

Excellent communication skills—both written and verbal—with a professional, empathetic approach.

The ability to stay organised, prioritise effectively, and adapt to change.This is more than just an administrative role—it’s about being part of a team committed to making lasting change for children and young people with SEND.
