Description

Are you a compassionate, resilient, and proactive Teaching Assistant looking to make a genuine difference in a child’s educational journey? A thriving primary school in Brent is seeking an SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a Year 2 pupil with complex additional needs.

This full-time role offers a rewarding opportunity to help a child take their very first steps into formal education in a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment. The successful candidate will be a calm and confident practitioner who can engage a child with sensory-seeking behaviours, ensuring safety, structure, and emotional wellbeing throughout the school day.

Your Role:

• Provide consistent 1:1 support tailored to the child’s specific educational and emotional needs.

• Implement structured routines and behaviour strategies to foster engagement and progress.

• Use non-verbal communication methods such as PECS, visual timetables, and sensory tools.

• Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and external specialists to maintain consistent support plans.

• Encourage inclusion within the classroom and playground, always prioritising safety and wellbeing.

What We’re Looking For:

• Proven experience supporting children with autism, sensory needs, or challenging behaviours.

• A patient, adaptable, and positive attitude.

• Understanding of behaviour management and safeguarding principles.

• Level 2/3 qualification in childcare, education, or SEN support (preferred).

Why Join This School?

You’ll become part of a welcoming and collaborative school community that values its staff as much as its pupils. Enjoy ongoing professional development, access to experienced SEN teams, and a genuine sense of fulfilment as you help a child flourish in their first learning environment.
