Description

We are working with a specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) college in South Norwood seeking a committed and confident Behaviour Support Assistant to join their team full-time from September 2025.

Location: South Norwood, London

Contract: Academic Year – 05/09/2025 to 17/07/2026 (with the view to go permanent)

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 3:30pm

Pay: £100 – £110 per day (PAYE)

You will be supporting students aged 14–18 who require tailored guidance both in and out of the classroom. The ideal candidate will be proactive, patient, and confident in working with young people with SEMH needs, helping them to engage positively in their learning and development.

Key Responsibilities:

* Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with SEMH needs

* Implement strategies to manage challenging behaviour effectively

* Work closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams to promote a positive learning environment

* Build trusting relationships with students to encourage engagement and progress

* Support students in developing social, emotional, and life skills

Requirements:

* Previous experience supporting young people with SEMH or similar behavioural needs

* Confident, consistent, and calm approach to managing challenging situations

* Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport quickly

* Resilient, reliable, and committed to inclusive education

* A genuine passion for helping young people reach their potential
