An outstanding specialist school in Cosham is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team and support students with autism spectrum conditions across various age groups – from Early Years to young adults.

They have small classrooms, a playroom, a sensory room, a music room, and a playground to enhance their experience. With a high staff-to-student ratio, each child receives individualised support tailored to their needs. The curriculum focuses on the unique requirements of each student, grouping them by similar needs and ages. They prioritise safety with trained staff who take any concerns about neglect or abuse very seriously. Your Role as an SEN Teaching Assistant:

You will provide one-to-one and small group support for students with Autism, helping them access learning and build life skills. This role is ideal for someone who is patient, empathetic, and truly committed to inclusive education.

Key Responsibilities:

Deliver tailored lessons and care plans to support student development

Foster a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment

Support with personal care, feeding, and communication strategies

Work closely with teachers, therapists, and parents

Accurately maintain records in line with care and EHCP guidelines

Use specialist techniques and communication tools (e.g., PECS, Makaton) where required

What We’re Looking For:

Experience working with children or young people with Autism (in education, care, or community settings)

A good understanding of Autism Spectrum Conditions and SEN best practices

Strong communication and teamwork skills

Adaptability, patience, and a calm, nurturing approach
