SEN Teaching Assistant

Prospero Teaching are working in partnership with a specialist primary school in Dibden, Southampton, which supports pupils aged 4-11 with Autism and associated complex needs. The school is seeking passionate and dedicated Teaching Assistants to support its growing cohort of pupils.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a close-knit team and make a genuine impact on the lives of young people who need understanding, guidance, and bespoke support. Contract Details:

Location: Dibden, Southampton

Position: SEN Teaching Assistant

Type of Work: Classroom and 1:1 support for pupils with Autism

Contract or Position Start Date: September 2025

Duration / Likely Duration: Temp to Perm

Contract Type: Temp to Perm

Full Time/Part Time: Full time

Minimum Rate of Pay: From £105.21 (actual pay based on experience)

Hours: 8:30am-16.30pmThe successful candidate will:

Support children with Autism and additional complex needs

Assist with preparing learning materials and delivering engaging activities

Offer emotional, behavioural and academic support both in and out of the classroom

Supervise pupils during structured and unstructured times, including outdoor learning and off-site visits

Promote independence, confidence and positive relationships

Be calm, patient, adaptable and resilient in their approach

Thrive as part of a team-focused and child-centred environmentExperience, Training and Qualifications:

Educated to GCSE grade C/4 or above in English, Maths and Science

Experience supporting children with Autism or additional needs is highly desirable

Willingness to take part in physical activities, outdoor learning, and team teaching

Up-to-date Safeguarding training issued in the last year (or willingness to complete)Eligibility:

Hold Right to Work in the UK

Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online Update Service or be willing to process a new application

Provide two professional, child-related referencesProspero Teaching is able to offer the successful candidate:
