SEN Teaching Assistant Required

Start Date: September 2025

Contract: Full–time, 5 days per week

Exclusive Education is looking to appoint a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with SEN from EYFS – Key Stage 5 at a school in Wirral. This Teaching Assistant role is full–time ideally but part time hours will be considered for September 2025.

The ideal candidate for the Teaching Assistant position will have previous experience working with children with Severe Learning Difficulties.

Key Responsibilities of the Teaching Assistant:

Support pupils with Autism and other Special Educational Needs to access the curriculum and engage in learningAssist in managing challenging behaviours using appropriate strategies and interventionsWork collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to deliver personalised learning support as a proactive Teaching AssistantImplement behaviour management plans and support positive behaviour throughout the school dayAssist pupils' communication needs using tools such as PECs or other visual aids.Support pupils' social, emotional, and developmental needs in line with individual education plans (IEPs)Maintain accurate records of pupil progress and support ongoing assessmentPromote a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment in your role as a Teaching AssistantRequirements for the Teaching Assistant role:

Relevant Teaching Assistant qualification (e.g., NCFE, CACHE, NVQ Level 1, 2 or 3) is desirableEligibility to work in the UKRecent experience working with children within the last two yearsExperience supporting pupils with Autism and special educational needsExcellent understanding of the national curriculum and assessment frameworksPrevious experience working across KS3, KS4, and KS5 is advantageousAbility to provide two professional references from recent roles working with childrenHold a current DBS registered with the update service or be willing to apply for a new oneTraining or experience in PECs, TEACCH, or Team Teach is desirableWhat Exclusive Education offers Teaching Assistants:
