Are you a dedicated and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant looking to make a significant impact? Long Term Futures is delighted to be working with an exceptional primary school in Croydon that features a specialist Enhanced Learning Provision (ELP). This school is deeply committed to fostering the growth and development of every child, particularly those with complex Special Educational Needs.

Empowering Learning in a Specialist Setting

This vital, full-time opportunity is within a "Good"-rated primary school's ELP in Croydon. The ELP provides a highly tailored and supportive environment for pupils with more profound and multifaceted SEN, while seamlessly integrating them into the broader school community. Your role will be pivotal in ensuring these pupils receive the bespoke assistance they require to thrive academically, socially, and personally. This is an ongoing position with strong potential for a permanent role.

You'll collaborate closely with specialist teachers and potentially therapists within the ELP, contributing to a dynamic and accessible curriculum designed to empower every student to achieve their full potential.

Your Contribution: Nurturing Growth and Independence

As a Primary SEN Teaching Assistant within the ELP, your key responsibilities will include:

Delivering highly individualized support aligned with pupils' complex SEN, addressing diverse needs (e.g., severe autism, profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), significant communication challenges).

Assisting with customized learning activities, adapting resources, and supporting the development of independence and essential life skills.

Implementing effective communication strategies, which may include Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS), Makaton, or other assistive technologies.

Collaborating proactively with specialist ELP staff and external professionals to ensure holistic pupil development.

Implementing positive behaviour support strategies for complex needs, fostering a calm, predictable, and consistently supportive learning environment.

Monitoring and accurately documenting pupil progress, providing valuable insights and feedback to the ELP team.What We're Looking For: Essential Skills & Experience

To excel in this specialized role, you will need:

Proven experience supporting primary children with complex SEN, ideally gained within an ELP or similar specialist educational setting.

A strong understanding of various complex SEN diagnoses and effective, evidence-based support strategies.

Familiarity with communication aids (e.g., PECS, Makaton) or certified positive behaviour support training.

An adaptable, highly patient, and resilient approach to meeting individual pupil needs.

Excellent interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with pupils, colleagues, and parents.
