A community led SEN secondary school are looking for a Teaching Assistant to work with primary aged students. These students all have a diagnosis of ASD and complex needs. You will be joining a dedicated team of professionals who work closely with the primary students to ensure their educational goals are met.

The SEN Teaching Assistant Job:

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to work with primary aged students with severe learning needs (SLD) and ASD. You will provide one-on-one support, helping students engage with their learning and develop independence, literacy and mathematics skills.

There is an exciting opportunity to work as a part of a small, community based school in the borough of Lewisham where your energy and experience will be valued as you play an important part working each day towards the schools aim to meet the varied needs of its students.

As an SEN teaching assistant you will enjoy a high degree of job satisfaction as you have the opportunity to apply your skills to working with students ho need support building their independence as they navigate in primary school.

Based in Lewisham this fantastic school is a friendly and well respected in the local community with students across the school ages 4-11.

Pupils from Lewisham and across surrounding areas who attend this school are offered a broad and balanced curriculum, that is tailored around an extensive knowledge of their learning difficulties and tailored to them.

Support and training offered every week to further develop your knowledge and skills as an SEN teaching assistant for children with varied needs.

You will be working with skilled Teachers and SEN/SEMH Teaching Assistant's in a classroom environment The SEN Teaching Assistant Responsibilities

Give support to pupils, individually or in groups, so they can access the curriculum, take part in learning and experience a sense of achievement

Support with planning, preparation and resourcing for lessons

Promote, support and facilitate inclusion by encouraging participation of all pupils in learning and extracurricular activities

Use effective behaviour management strategies consistently in line with the school's policy and procedures

Organise and manage teaching space and resources to help maintain a stimulating and safe learning environmentThe SEN Teaching Assistant Applicant

The ideal SEN Teaching Assistant applicant will be have the following qualities:

Will have experience working with students with with various SEN needs
