SEN 1:1 Teaching Assistant - Blackpool Secondary School

Are you passionate about supporting young people with special educational needs (SEN) to thrive in a mainstream school? We are seeking a dedicated SEN 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join our team in a secondary school in Blackpool starting September 2025. This is a rewarding role where you will provide tailored support to a specific student, helping them to access the curriculum and achieve their full potential.

The Role & Responsibilities

As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will be responsible for:

Individualised Support: Providing one-to-one support to a student with SEN, helping them to stay on task, understand concepts, and manage any social or emotional challenges they face.

Curriculum Access: Adapting resources and activities under the guidance of the teacher to ensure the student can fully participate in lessons across a range of subjects.

Collaboration: Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and parents to monitor the student's progress and contribute to their personalised learning plan.

Well-being: Acting as a key pastoral figure, helping the student to build confidence, independence, and positive relationships with their peers.

Safeguarding: Upholding the school's safeguarding and child protection policies at all times.

Who We Are Looking For

The ideal candidate will have:

Experience: Previous experience supporting students with SEN, ideally in a secondary school environment.

Understanding: A strong understanding of various Special Educational Needs, such as ASD, ADHD, or SEMH.

Patience & Empathy: A calm, patient, and empathetic approach, with a genuine desire to help young people succeed.

Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with students, staff, and parents.

Commitment: A proactive attitude and a strong commitment to professional development.
