Job Opportunity: Full-Time SEN Teaching Assistant – Primary School (Blackburn)

Location: Blackburn

Start Date: October 2025

Contract Type: Full-Time, Term-Time Only

Role: SEN Teaching Assistant (Key Stages 1 & 2)

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

About the Role:

We are a warm and inclusive primary school in the heart of Blackburn, seeking a committed and nurturing SEN Teaching Assistant to join our supportive team from October 2025. You’ll work closely with class teachers and the school’s SENCo to provide tailored 1:1 and small group support for children with a range of additional needs including ASD, ADHD, speech and language delays, and SEMH.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide in-class support and intervention to children with SEN

Develop positive relationships with pupils to encourage engagement and progress

Work collaboratively with teaching staff and external professionals

Assist in developing and implementing personalised learning plans

Promote a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment

About You:

Previous experience working with children with SEN in a school or similar setting

A calm, patient, and adaptable approach

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

A good understanding of safeguarding and child protection policies

Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, CACHE, or equivalent) are desirable but not essential for the right candidate
