GSL Education are seeking a compassionate and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school environment in Blyth. About the Role:

As a SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students requiring additional emotional, behavioural and learning support. You’ll help create a nurturing space where pupils feel safe, understood and capable of reaching their full potential.

Key Responsibilities of the SEMH TA:

Provide 1:1 and group support for pupils with SEMH needs.

Assist class teachers with creating and delivering engaging learning activities.

Implement behaviour management strategies and promote positive behaviour.

Support students with emotional regulation and confidence-building.

Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and external agencies.

Requirements for the SEMH Teaching Assistant role:

Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs in an educational or care setting.

Relevant qualifications (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3, Team Teach, Youth Work, Psychology) are desirable but not essential.

A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners and promoting mental well-being.

Understanding of trauma-informed and person-centred support strategies.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build trust with pupils.

Ability to remain calm, patient and consistent in challenging situations.

Enhanced Child Workforce DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply through GSL Education).
