Experienced HLTA – SEN & SEMH Support (Primary)

Location: Primary School near Derby

Start Date: September 2025

Daily Rate: 90 – 120 (dependent on experience)

Are you an experienced HLTA with a passion for supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs?

Tradewind Recruitment is working closely with a welcoming and inclusive primary school near Derby to recruit an experienced and committed Higher Level Teaching Assistant to start in September 2025.

About the Role:

This is a full–time HLTA position working across EYFS, KS1, and KS2. You will provide tailored support to children with a range of SEN and SEMH needs supporting their academic, emotional, and behavioural development, while helping to maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment.

Key responsibilities include:

Delivering small group and one–to–one interventions

Supporting pupils with EHCPs and complex emotional or behavioural needs

Assisting with the planning and delivery of engaging learning activities

Working closely with SENCOs, class teachers, and external professionals

Promoting resilience, independence, and positive learning behaviours

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

Previous experience as an HLTA in a primary setting

Strong knowledge of SEN strategies and behaviour support techniques

A calm, patient, and empathetic approach to challenging behaviours

Excellent teamwork and communication skills

A proactive and flexible attitude with a genuine passion for helping children thrive
