Secondary SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Kent

Contract: Permanent (flexible options may be available)

Salary: 24,404 – 27,269

Aspire People are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Secondary SEN Teaching Assistant to join a successful school on the Isle of Sheppey. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young people, helping them to overcome barriers to learning and thrive in their educational journey.

Secondary SEN Teaching Assistant – role information:

As a Secondary SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students who have a range of special educational needs, including autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.

Your role will involve:

Providing one–to–one and small group support to students in the classroom (multiple subject areas).

Assisting with the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and EHCPs (Education, Health, and Care Plans).

Supporting students with their academic, social, and emotional development.

Helping to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Collaborating with teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals to ensure the best outcomes for students.

Encouraging independence and confidence in students.

Secondary SEN Teaching Assistant – requirements:

A 2:1 or above from a top UK university (desirable)

Has experience working with children or young people with SEN, ideally in a school setting.

Possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Is patient, empathetic, and resilient, with a positive attitude.

Has a good understanding of SEN strategies and interventions.

Is proactive, adaptable, and able to work effectively as part of a team.

Considering a career in teaching or Educational Psychology.
