Location: Wingerworth, S42

Salary: £86 - £100 per day (Depending on experience)

Start Date: Immediate

Contract: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

Inspire Change and Support Young Minds – Secondary SEMH Teaching Assistant – Wingerworth (S42)!

GSL Education are supporting a secondary school in Wingerworth (S42) to appoint a compassionate and dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to work with pupils facing social, emotional, and mental health challenges. If you are passionate about inclusion, behaviour support, and making a lasting impact, this role is a perfect fit.

Role Overview:

As a Secondary SEMH TA, you will work closely with pupils across KS3 and KS4 who require extra emotional, behavioural, and academic support. You will play a vital role in building trust, delivering targeted interventions, and helping students re-engage with education in a positive and safe environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Support students on a 1:1 and small group basis with SEMH-related needs.

Assist in developing and implementing personalised behaviour and support plans.

Encourage student engagement through positive relationships and resilience-building strategies.

Support classroom teachers in managing behaviour and delivering accessible lessons.

Monitor and report on student progress and behaviour to relevant staff.

Help create a nurturing and inclusive classroom culture.

Work collaboratively with pastoral teams, SENCOs, and external agencies.

Job Requirements:

Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEMH or behavioural difficulties is essential.

A calm, empathetic, and non-judgmental approach to student support.

Knowledge of strategies to de-escalate challenging situations and manage behaviour positively.

Team Teach, or similar training, is highly desirable (can be provided by GSL).

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

A genuine passion for supporting students facing barriers to learning.

Have an updated CV and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
