Job Title: Religious Education (RE) Teacher

Position Overview:

As an RE Teacher at our school in Islington, you will have the opportunity to engage with students in thought–provoking discussions, encouraging them to critically examine religious beliefs, values, and practices. You will play a vital role in developing students' understanding of different faith traditions, moral dilemmas, and philosophical questions, equipping them with the skills and knowledge to navigate an increasingly diverse and interconnected world.

Key Responsibilities:

– Deliver engaging and interactive lessons that stimulate students' curiosity and promote deep learning in Religious Education.

– Create a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable expressing their views and exploring diverse perspectives.

– Develop and implement innovative teaching strategies to cater to students with varying learning styles and abilities.

– Foster students' analytical thinking skills through the exploration of religious texts, ethical theories, and contemporary issues.

– Assess student progress regularly and provide constructive feedback to support their academic development.

– Collaborate with colleagues to design cross–curricular projects and extracurricular activities that promote tolerance, understanding, and social cohesion.

– Participate in departmental meetings, parent–teacher conferences, and school events to contribute to the wider school community.

Requirements:

– Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised teaching qualification.

– Specialism or strong background in Religious Education, with a degree in Theology, Religious Studies, Philosophy, or a related field.

– Up–to–date knowledge of religious beliefs, practices, and ethical debates across different cultures and traditions.

– Experience teaching Religious Education at Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and preferably Key Stage 5 levels.

– Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage and inspire students from diverse backgrounds.

– Commitment to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion in the classroom and beyond.
