Primary Graduate Teaching Assistant

Do you want real primary classroom experience before applying for teacher training? Could you deliver focused 1:1 and small-group support that helps under-achieving pupils close gaps and gain confidence?

*** Immediate start until July 2026

*** £81 - £101 per day

*** ‘Good’ 3-form entry primary school, Wolverhampton

*** Support and guidance for under-achieving pupils

The Role:

Work across year groups to deliver short, targeted interventions in reading, writing and maths. Provide 1:1 catch-up, guide small groups, and pre-teach/overlearn key content. Prepare simple resources, record impact succinctly, and share next steps with class teachers. Help reinforce routines, encourage positive behaviour, and build independence.

The Candidate:

You’re a graduate who communicates clearly, stays organised, and builds rapport quickly with children. You follow guidance, use initiative to keep sessions purposeful, and are committed to improving pupil outcomes.

Requirements

• Degree – A 2:2 or above in any subject.

• Communication – Clear and confident verbal and written communication.

• Enhanced DBS – Must hold or be willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS certificate.

• Desire to work in education/with children – Strong interest in primary education and pupil progress.

• Experience working with children – Any relevant experience such as tutoring, mentoring or volunteering is desirable but not essential.
