Description

Job Title: Plastering Tutor

Location: HMP Highpoint

Salary: From £30,000 (dependent on experience)

Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent

Role Overview:

We are recruiting for a dedicated and inspiring Plastering Tutor to join the team at HMP Highpoint. This is more than just a teaching role – it’s about engaging learners, many of whom may have had little or no prior formal education, and supporting them to achieve their goals and unlock their potential.

Working with small groups of prison-based learners, you will deliver high-quality vocational training, helping them to develop practical skills, knowledge, and positive behaviours that support their personal and professional progression.

This is a rewarding opportunity for a passionate and skilled trades professional who wants to make a real difference through education and training.

Key Responsibilities:

* Deliver engaging and effective plastering training to small groups of learners.

* Develop and implement tailored lesson plans and schemes of work to meet curriculum requirements.

* Provide guidance, support, and encouragement to help learners progress towards their qualifications and long-term goals.

* Ensure individual learning plans are in place and regularly reviewed.

* Use a variety of teaching and learning methods to inspire and engage learners with different needs and abilities.

* Promote positive learning behaviours and maintain a supportive classroom environment.

* Work collaboratively with colleagues and prison staff to ensure smooth delivery and learner progress.

* Ensure all teaching meets required quality standards and awarding body requirements.

Essential Criteria:

* Level 2 vocational qualification in Plastering (or equivalent).

* Substantial vocational experience in your trade.

* Experience of delivering training within a vocational or educational setting.

* Ability to apply a range of teaching and learning techniques to engage and motivate learners.

Desirable Criteria:

A recognised teaching or assessing qualification (or willingness to work towards this).

Previous experience teaching within an offender learning or FE environment.

Wider construction/trades experience alongside plastering.

(If you do not currently hold a teaching or assessing qualification, full support can be provided to gain the necessary certifications during your probationary period.)
