Description

Outreach SEN HLTA - Great Yarmouth/Lowestoft Region

Location: Based in the Great Yarmouth/Lowestoft region with travel across East Norfolk and Suffolk

Hours: Full-Time, Term Time Only

Pay: £21,752 to £25,424

Start Date: April/May 2026

Contract Type: Permanent

We are looking for a confident, empathetic and dedicated Outreach SEN HLTA to support young people with SEMH needs across the Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft area. This role offers the chance to work beyond a traditional classroom setting and make a genuine difference to students who require a personalised, therapeutic approach to re-engage with education.

This outreach role is influenced by the ethos and approaches seen across the Group. These specialist schools support learners aged 11 - 16 with complex SEMH needs and emphasise emotional development, creativity, positive relationships and tailored learning pathways. This includes the nurturing, personalised learning model reflected at our partner Schools in Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft. Both schools focus on small class sizes, emotional regulation, ‘out‑of‑the‑box’ learning and social - emotional development as core parts of their curriculum.

Why this Outreach SEN HLTA role stands out:

You will work flexibly across a range of community settings to meet complex SEMH needs.

You will be part of a wider support network shaped by the therapeutic, student-centred ethos used at our partner schools, both of which work closely with young people on their emotional and academic development.

You’ll travel through East Norfolk and Suffolk, supporting students where they feel safest and most able to learn.

You’ll join a warm, supportive team where relationships, trust and emotional well-being are prioritised.

You will design creative, personalised interventions tailored to each student’s social, emotional and learning needs.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide consistent 1:1 and small-group support for children with SEMH needs.

Act as a lead support worker in homes, community settings and outreach environments.

Use therapeutic and relational approaches to help pupils build emotional regulation, resilience, and confidence, reflecting the social - emotional learning focus embedded across our partner school group.

Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and families to create individual support and progression plans.

Support long-term reintegration into structured education and positive routines.

What we’re looking for:

HLTA qualification or substantial experience supporting pupils with SEMH.

Experience working in outreach, community-based or alternative education settings.

Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for travel across Norfolk/Suffolk.

Creativity, independence and the confidence to work responsively in a variety of environments.

A calm, relational, patient and resilient approach to challenging behaviour.

Someone who brings warmth, humour and humanity to their role.

Why work in this Outreach SEN HLTA role:

A role that connects with the therapeutic principles used at both our partner schools, where small classes, individualised learning and emotional development guide all practice.

Supportive oversight, reflective practice and a team culture that values inclusion and professional growth.

Access to training and CPD suitable for working with SEMH and alternative provision.

Reliable PAYE pay and ongoing guidance from a supportive team.

Important Information:

All applicants will be required to undergo a full safeguarding and vetting process including an enhanced DBS check, referencing and safeguarding training, in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education guidance. xjnqpsq Please note that visa sponsorship is not currently available for this post.
