Contract Type: Temporary, Full–Time
Working Hours: 8:00am 4:00pm
Pay: GBP150 GBP210 per day (dependent on experience and qualifications)
Position Overview We are seeking a talented and enthusiastic Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) Teacher to join a welcoming and supportive secondary school community in Southampton. The successful candidate will teach German, French, and Spanish across Key Stages 3 and 4, inspiring students and fostering a deep appreciation for languages and cultures.
This is an exciting long–term opportunity, starting in September 2025, to make a real impact on the academic achievement and personal development of young learners.
Key Responsibilities Plan and deliver dynamic, engaging lessons in German, French, and Spanish, differentiated to meet the diverse needs of students.
Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment that encourages language acquisition and intercultural understanding.
Utilise a variety of teaching strategies and resources, including communicative activities, multimedia content, and authentic materials.
Regularly assess student progress through formative and summative methods, providing constructive feedback to support continued development.
Contribute to the development of the MFL curriculum in collaboration with departmental colleagues.
Organise and participate in extracurricular activities, such as language clubs, international trips, and cultural events, to enhance students learning experiences.
Person Specification Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
Degree in Modern Foreign Languages or a related discipline.
Proficiency in German, French, and Spanish, with the ability to teach all three languages to a high standard.
Previous experience teaching MFL at secondary level, with evidence of strong outcomes.
Excellent subject knowledge combined with a genuine passion for language learning.
Strong classroom management skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students.
A commitment to ongoing professional development and active participation in school–wide initiatives.
