Are you passionate about supporting young people’s mental health and wellbeing?

Teaching Personnel are seeking dedicated and empathetic Mental Health Support Assistants to join our pastoral team for schools across the South West. This role will involve supporting students with a range of emotional and mental health needs, working alongside teaching staff, pastoral leads, and external professionals to ensure every child can thrive.

Key Responsibilities

Provide 1:1 and small group support for students experiencing mental health difficulties.

Promote resilience, emotional wellbeing, and positive engagement with learning.

Work collaboratively with staff, parents, and external agencies.

Always maintain safeguarding and child protection responsibilities.

SEN or Pastoral Leadership in schools

Qualifications & Skills

A degree (or working towards) in Psychology, Counselling, Social Work, Education, or a related subject is desirable.

Relevant qualifications such as Mental Health First Aid or Counselling Skills are advantageous.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with an empathetic and calm approach.

Desired Experience

Supporting children/young people in schools, youth services, or care settings.

Experience of providing emotional/behavioural support.

Familiarity with safeguarding and child protection procedures.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
