Description

Job Title: Level 2 Teaching Assistant

Location: Barnsley

Contract: Full-time and Part-time available

Start Date: Immediate / Ongoing

Looking for a role where you’re genuinely valued, not just “extra support” at the back of the class?

We’re working with a welcoming primary school in Barnsley that’s ready for a brilliant Level 2 Teaching Assistant to join their team. Whether you’re after full-time stability or part-time flexibility, there’s space here for you to make a real difference.

You know those moments, when a child finally “gets it”, or when your calm approach turns a tricky day around? That’s what this role is all about.

What you’ll be doing:

Supporting pupils across the classroom, both in groups and 1:1

Helping to create a calm, positive learning environment

Working closely with the class teacher to keep lessons flowing

Supporting children with additional needs where required

Being that steady, reassuring presence pupils rely on

What the school is looking for:

Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (required)

Experience working with children in a school or similar setting

A calm, patient, and positive approach

Someone who can build trust quickly, with pupils and staff alike

A team player who’s happy to roll up their sleeves and get stuck in

Why this role stands out:

Friendly, supportive staff team who genuinely look out for each other

Well-structured school day, no chaos, just good routines

Opportunities to develop your skills and grow in confidence

Flexible working options to suit your lifestyle

What you’ll get with us:

Weekly PAYE pay, no umbrella companies

Free access to CPD, including SEND and behaviour support training

A dedicated consultant who actually listens to what you want

Local roles that fit around you

You’re not “just a TA”. You’re the calm in the chaos, the extra pair of hands, and often the reason a child has a good day. This school gets that, and they’re ready to welcome someone just like you.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQs on the Protocol Education website for further details.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
