Learning Support Assistant - Year 4 - Non-Verbal Pupil with Behaviour Needs - Haringey

A warm and inclusive Primary School in Haringey, North London, is seeking a dedicated and patient Learning Support Assistant to work 1:1 with a non-verbal Year 4 pupil who also presents with some behavioural challenges. This is a long-term Learning Support Assistant position, ideal for someone experienced in SEN support or looking to build a rewarding career in education.

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in helping the pupil engage in learning, develop communication skills, and build positive relationships. The successful Learning Support Assistant will work closely with the class teacher, SENCo, and external therapists to implement strategies that support both academic and emotional progress.

Learning Support Assistant - Responsibilities:

Provide 1:1 support for a non-verbal pupil in Year 4.

Use visual aids, sensory tools, and alternative communication methods (PECS, Makaton).

Support with behaviour management and emotional regulation.

Collaborate with teaching staff, parents, and external agencies.

Promote independence, confidence, and a positive learning experience.

Requirements:

Previous experience as a Learning Support Assistant or SEN TA.

Understanding of Autism, non-verbal communication, and behaviour management strategies.

Patience, empathy, and consistency.

A valid DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).

Pay: £83-£100 per day (depending on experience)
