Position: Learning Support Assistant

Location: A well-regarded further education college in Cambridgeshire (Ofsted-rated Good)

Contract Type: Permanent (Full-Time)

Annual Leave: 27 days per year + Christmas closure + bank holidays

Pension: Generous employer contribution at 22.7%

Think FE are proud to be recruiting on behalf of a highly respected FE college in the Cambridge area. This permanent Learning Support Assistant position offers the chance to make a real difference to students aged 16+ with diverse learning needs and disabilities. You’ll be supporting learners within the Science, Engineering, and Computing departments on campus, helping them thrive in a positive, inclusive environment.

Key Responsibilities

Support students with additional needs during lessons and around campus

Work closely with teaching staff to adapt resources and learning strategies

Encourage independence, confidence, and active participation

Provide academic and emotional support that’s tailored to individual learners

Liaise with the SEND team to track and support student progress

What We’re Looking For

Experience supporting individuals with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)

GCSEs in English and Maths (grade C/4 or above)

A calm, empathetic, and adaptable approach

Strong communication skills and a commitment to inclusion

An interest in or understanding of Science, Engineering, or Computing is beneficial
