Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: St Leonards

Salary: £88.92 - £100 per day (depending on experience)

Start Date: September / Immediate Start

Contract Type: Full-time, Long-term

Are you passionate about supporting children with special educational needs? Do you want to make a real difference in a child’s education journey?

GSL Education is seeking a SEN Teaching Assistant to join a warm and inclusive Special Educational Needs (SEN) school in St Leonards. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with prior experience supporting children or young people with additional needs, looking to take the next step in their career.

About the Role:

As a Teaching Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in supporting students across the classroom with a range of needs, including autism, ADHD, and speech and language difficulties. Your guidance will help them feel confident, included, and empowered to succeed in their learning.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide classroom-based support tailored to individual learning plans

Encourage pupil engagement and participation in daily activities

Use visual aids and simplified communication strategies to aid understanding

Build strong, positive relationships with pupils and staff

Support students’ emotional wellbeing and social development in a nurturing environment

Requirements:

Some experience working with children or young people with SEN (in school, care, or youth work settings)

A patient, caring, and flexible attitude

Strong communication and teamwork skills

Willingness to adapt and learn to meet the varied needs of students

An up-to-date CV and an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one)
