Learning Support Assistant

*** ‘Good’ secondary school, Walsall
*** 1:1 and small group support for students with Autism
The Role:
As a Learning Support Assistant, you’ll work closely with the school’s SEN team to support pupils with Autism across a range of subjects. You’ll provide one-to-one assistance, deliver small group interventions, and help students manage both their academic work and classroom routines. Your role will involve adapting materials, building trust, and helping learners stay engaged and confident in their studies.
The Candidate:
You should hold a degree in any subject and be comfortable working closely with young people who need additional support. Patience, strong communication skills, and a calm, consistent approach are key. Previous experience working with students with Autism or in a support role will be an advantage.
Requirements
Degree – A 2:2 or above in any subject.
Communication – Clear and confident verbal and written communication.
Enhanced DBS – Must hold or be willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS certificate.
Desire to work in education/with children – A genuine interest in supporting students with additional needs.
Experience working with children – Any relevant experience such as SEN support, mentoring, or volunteering is desirable but not essential.
