Description

Are you passionate about supporting young people with special educational needs (SEN)? Do you have the confidence and compassion to work with pupils across a range of ages and needs? We are recruiting a Learning Support Assistant (LSA) for a large, all-through SEN school in South Bristol (BS13).

This is a term-time only role, Monday to Friday, 8:30am–3:30pm, with the opportunity to become permanent for the right candidate.

About the School:

This large and vibrant SEN school caters to students from primary through to post-16, with a wide variety of needs including autism, ADHD, PMLD, communication difficulties, and SEMH.

The school boasts excellent facilities, including:

A hydrotherapy pool

Multiple sensory rooms

On-site therapists (speech & language, occupational therapy, physiotherapy)

A school-run café, where post-16 students gain work experience by preparing and serving food for younger pupils

The staff are warm, welcoming, and deeply committed to helping every student succeed in a supportive and inclusive environment.

Role Responsibilities:

Provide tailored 1:1 or small group support to students with additional needs

Assist teachers with implementing learning, behaviour, and therapy plans

Support students in developing independence, communication, and life skills

Help manage behaviour in a calm, confident, and consistent way

Engage in activities across various learning environments including sensory rooms, the hydro pool, and the school café

Ideal Candidate:

Experience working in an SEN or specialist provision setting (preferred)

Confident in managing behaviours and promoting positive engagement

Calm, patient, and adaptable in a dynamic school setting

A genuine passion for supporting children and young people with complex needs

Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (essential)

Strong teamwork and communication skills
