SEN & SEMH Learning Support Assistant (LSA) - Southampton & Eastleigh

Location: Various schools across Southampton & Eastleigh

Salary: £13.75 per hour | Term-Time Only

Contract Type: Flexible, Day-to-Day, Short-Term or Long-Term

Are you passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs?

Teaching Personnel is seeking compassionate and adaptable Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) to work across a variety of mainstream and specialist schools in the Southampton and Eastleigh areas.

This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are looking to make a real difference in the lives of young people, while enjoying the flexibility of choosing when and where they work.

Role Overview:

As an LSA, you will work closely with pupils who require additional support due to SEN or SEMH needs. You may be working on a 1:1 basis or within small groups, helping students access the curriculum, manage their emotions, and develop positive relationships in a school setting.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide tailored support to students with a range of needs including autism, ADHD, learning difficulties, and behavioural challenges.

Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs and other professionals to support pupil development.

Assist with learning activities, emotional regulation, and social engagement.

Contribute to creating a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment.

Requirements:

Experience supporting children or young people (in educational, care, or voluntary settings).

Strong interpersonal skills and a patient, nurturing approach.

Adaptable, reliable, and able to work in a variety of school settings.

A child-only Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply through Teaching Personnel).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
