Job Title: KS3 Nurture Teacher (Paternity Cover)

Location: Baston House School, Bromley, Kent BR2 7AB

Salary: GBP39,000 - GBP46,000 per annum, dependent on experience ( not pro rata )

Hours: 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday 8.30am - 4.30pm

Contract: Permanent Term Time Only

Start: December 2025

Baston House School is seeking a dedicated and inspiring KS3 Nurture Teacher to join our team on a permanent basis. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate teacher to make a real difference in the lives of pupils with autism and additional needs. You will help create an inclusive, supportive environment where every pupil can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

About the Role

You will lead a small Key Stage 3 nurture class, delivering a broad, balanced curriculum tailored to individual EHCPs while promoting life skills, emotional regulation, communication, and independence. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team-including speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, behaviour analysts, and pastoral staff-working together to remove barriers to learning and ensure every pupil feels valued and supported.

Key Responsibilities

Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to individual EHCPsCreate a safe, structured, and nurturing learning environmentPromote pupil wellbeing, confidence, and emotional development alongside academic progressUse a range of teaching strategies and assistive technologies to meet individual needsMonitor, assess, and report on pupil progress using school systemsWork closely with parents/carers and external professionals to provide holistic supportParticipate in school life, including staff meetings, CPD, and school eventsMaintain accurate records of behaviour, incidents, and pupil progressContribute to curriculum planning and policy development as requiredWho We're Looking For

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalentExperience teaching pupils with autism or learning difficultiesStrong classroom management and behaviour regulation skillsAbility to plan and adapt lessons for a range of learning styles and abilitiesExcellent communication, teamwork, and organisational skillsA reflective, proactive, and solution-focused approachDesirable:

Knowledge of TEACCH, PECS, SCERTS, or similar frameworksExperience in specialist or alternative provision settingsUnderstanding of trauma-informed practice and positive behaviour supportAbility to deliver a nurture-based curriculum and contribute to social/emotional learningFamiliarity with EHCP processes and statutory reportingAt Baston House, every lesson is an opportunity to make a difference.
