Graduate Teaching Assistant

Do you have a degree and a passion for supporting young people with additional needs?

Are you ready to gain valuable experience in a secondary school, working closely with students who have SEN?

*** Graduate Teaching Assistant

*** Immediate start until July 2026

*** £81 - £98 per day

*** Secondary School – Walsall

*** 1:1 and small group support for students with SEN

The Role:

As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you’ll work with students who have special educational needs, offering both one-to-one and small group support. You’ll assist with lesson delivery, help adapt learning resources, and ensure pupils remain engaged and confident in the classroom. Your support will play a vital role in their academic progress and overall wellbeing.

The Candidate:

You should hold a degree in any subject and demonstrate strong communication skills, patience, and a supportive approach. A genuine interest in working with students with SEN is essential. Previous experience in a similar role or working with young people will be an advantage.

Requirements

• Degree – A 2:2 or above in any subject.

• Communication – Clear and confident verbal and written communication.

• Enhanced DBS – Must hold or be willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS certificate.

• Desire to work in education/with children – A strong interest in supporting students with additional needs and pursuing a career in education.

• Experience working with children – Any relevant experience such as SEN support, mentoring, or volunteering is desirable but not essential.

This secondary school in Walsall is rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted and has a well-established SEN department. Staff are experienced and collaborative, with a focus on ensuring all students have access to the support they need. You’ll receive guidance and mentoring to help you succeed in the role and grow professionally.
