Designated Safeguarding Lead - SEMH School | Doncaster

Full Time | 40 hours/week

£30,000 - £35,000 (dependent on experience)

We are recruiting on behalf of our independent SEMH client school in Doncaster for a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) to join their committed team this term.

This is a rewarding opportunity to lead safeguarding across a vibrant specialist setting, ensuring all pupils are safe, supported, and empowered to succeed.

About the School

Our client's school provides a structured, supportive environment for students aged 14-16 who have been excluded or are at risk of exclusion due to behavioural challenges.

With a Good Ofsted rating, the school re-engages learners through a personalised academic and vocational curriculum, underpinned by strong relationships and consistent pastoral care.

Key Responsibilities

Lead all aspects of safeguarding and child protection in the school

Offer exceptional pastoral support to pupils

Monitor and report on safeguarding trends to senior leadership

Maintain robust safeguarding records and procedures

Liaise with external agencies and build strong community links

Support behaviour strategies in collaboration with the wider team

Contribute to whole-school improvement and a positive school culture

Requirements

Proven experience in a safeguarding role, ideally in a SEND or SEMH setting

A recognised DSL qualification (or willingness to work towards it)

Minimum 2 years' experience supporting students with SEND

Passionate about student welfare, inclusion, and positive outcomes
