Job Title: Cover Supervisor – SEN Schools

Pay rate: £110.68 per day

Location: Birmingham

Hours: Full-time and day-to-day (term time only)

Smart Education is currently recruiting for Cover Supervisors to work across a range of Special Educational Needs (SEN) schools in the Birmingham area.

This is a fantastic opportunity to support pupils with additional needs, including MLD (Moderate Learning Difficulties), PMLD (Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties), SLD (Severe Learning Difficulties), SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs), and Autism (ASC). You will be responsible for supervising classes during teacher absence, ensuring lessons are delivered effectively, and supporting pupils to remain engaged in their learning.

Both full-time and day-to-day roles are available, making this an excellent choice for candidates looking for either consistency or flexibility.

Job requirements:

• Minimum of 6 months UK experience working within an SEN school setting

• Strong behaviour management skills and ability to adapt to different classrooms

• A valid Child or Child/Adult DBS registered to the update service (or willingness to process one)

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff

• Flexibility to travel to different schools when required

Role responsibilities:

• Supervising classes in the absence of the teacher

• Delivering pre-planned work and ensuring learning continues

• Supporting pupils with SEN needs, including Autism, SEMH, and PMLD

• Promoting positive behaviour and creating a calm learning environment

• Liaising with school staff to provide feedback at the end of each day

• Ensuring safeguarding and school policies are followed at all times
