Behaviour TA (SEMH) North London PRUs & Alternative Provisions

Are you a Behaviour Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding new challenge in North London? Or are you an experienced support professional who wants to make a real difference to young people with social, emotional and mental health needs?

Tradewind Recruitment are currently seeking passionate Behaviour Teaching Assistants to work across Pupil Referral Units and alternative provisions throughout North London. These specialized settings support students with SEMH needs who require additional behavioral and emotional support to access their education. We have full–time, long–term positions available starting September 2025 with potential for permanent opportunities.

As a Behaviour TA you will be responsible for:

Supporting students with SEMH needs through targeted behavioral interventions and strategiesWorking with individuals and small groups to develop self–regulation and coping skillsDe–escalating challenging situations and providing crisis support when neededImplementing personalized behavior support plans and therapeutic approachesBuilding positive, trusting relationships to encourage student engagement and progressCollaborating with multi–disciplinary teams, families, and external professionalsRecording behavioral observations, incidents, and tracking student developmentSupporting academic learning alongside addressing behavioral and emotional needsTo be successful in this role you will need:

Experience working with children and young people with SEMH needs in educational or care settingsUnderstanding of behavior management techniques and de–escalation strategiesAbility to remain calm and supportive during challenging situationsEnhanced DBS Disclosure, Overseas Police Clearances (where applicable) and satisfactory professional referencesEmployment history covering the previous 10 years where possibleRight to work in the UKDaily rate: 90 – 115 (increased after 12 weeks in role)
