Exciting Opportunity: Behaviour Support Assistant at a SEN School

Are you passionate about supporting young people to thrive? We are seeking a caring and proactive Behaviour Support Assistant to join our lively SEN school for secondary-aged students. If you’re dedicated to helping students with autism and other special educational needs reach their full potential, we want to hear from you!

Role: Behaviour Support Assistant

Location: Southampton

Working Hours: Full-time (8:30am – 3:30pm)

Start Date: ASAP

About the School & Role:

Based in Southampton, our Alternative Provision caters to primary and secondary students with social, emotional, and mental health challenges, including those displaying challenging behaviours. The successful Behaviour Support Assistant will work either 1-1 or within small groups to support both academic progress and emotional wellbeing, helping students overcome barriers to learning.

Key Responsibilities:

Providing tailored support for students with autism during lessons and activities

Helping implement personalised behaviour and learning support plans

Encouraging positive behaviour and social skills development

Assisting with communication and sensory needs

Building trusting relationships to foster independence and confidence

What We’re Looking For:

Experience working with children or young people in an educational or similar setting

Experience supporting pupils with SEND, SEMH, or behavioural needs

Genuine enthusiasm for student development and well-being

Resilience, patience, and adaptability in a dynamic environment

Enhance DBS on the update service
