Behaviour Support Assistant – Alternative Provision

Location: Blandford Forum

Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent

We are looking for a committed and resilient Behaviour Support Assistant to join our vibrant alternative provision, supporting both primary and secondary students.

Our alternative provision is a specialised educational setting dedicated to helping young people who are unable to access mainstream education due to behavioural, emotional, social, or special educational needs. Our goal is to create a safe, nurturing, and structured environment where students can develop vital skills, rebuild confidence, and reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

Support students with behavioural and emotional difficulties, encouraging engagement with learning.

Assist in implementing behaviour management and de-escalation strategies.

Provide individual support to help students access the curriculum and develop social skills.

Foster a calm and positive atmosphere that promotes learning and personal growth.

Work collaboratively with teachers, pastoral staff, and external agencies to support student progress.

Observe, monitor, and record student behaviour and development.

Help with daily routines, transitions, and maintaining a safe environment.

The ideal candidate will have:

Experience working with children or young people, especially those with behavioural challenges.

A strong understanding of behaviour management techniques and de-escalation methods.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Patience, resilience, and a compassionate attitude.

The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

A relevant qualification (such as Level 2/3 Supporting Children and Young People or equivalent) is preferred but not essential.

As a part of our team, you benefit from:

· Excellent daily rates paid using the PAYE system. (Daily rate is subject to your scale rate, experience in role and qualifications which will be discussed at the point of registration).

· Guaranteed pay scheme (subject to availability).

· Social and networking events.

· Pension contributions.

· CPD to help with your professional development.

· Access to a dedicated consultant.
