Location: Preston

Pay: £95 – £110 per day (depending on experience)

Start Date: September (or as soon as possible)

Contract: Full-time, long-term

We are currently seeking a resilient and dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a specialist provision in Preston, supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and challenging behaviour.

This is a rewarding and hands-on role ideal for someone who is passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning and reach their potential in a nurturing, structured environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Providing one-to-one and small group support to pupils with SEMH needs

Promoting emotional regulation, resilience, and positive behaviour

Supporting pupils both in and out of the classroom to re-engage with learning

Working collaboratively with teaching staff and external professionals

Creating a safe, calm and consistent environment that supports individual needs

Requirements:

Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour – essential

A calm, patient, and empathetic approach to support

Strong communication skills and a positive, team-focused attitude

Knowledge of trauma-informed approaches – highly advantageous

Commitment to safeguarding and inclusion
